What we did
- Installed cream shaker cabinets with crown molding, a glass-front display cabinet and a built-in wine rack.
- Built a large island with a white quartz top.
- Set white quartz counters and a light tile backsplash.
- Fitted stainless appliances and laid wood-look plank flooring through the space.

Designing around an island
In a long kitchen, an island adds counter space and storage without blocking the work area along the walls, and gives family and guests a place to sit out of the cook's way. Cream shaker cabinets with crown molding bring a warmer tone than bright white and finish the cabinets to the ceiling. A glass-front cabinet and wine rack break up a long run of doors, and stainless appliances keep the look consistent from end to end.
